The Problem

Directed by Joe Varden

A one-act play starring Ailbhe McMahon and Aidan O’Gara, it is a hilarious comedy of sparkling wit, concerning the psychosis and mental perversions of a married couple. The wife reveals a shocking secret to her husband; little does she know that he has a few of his own…..

The play will be part of an evening of drama and music presented by Ennis Street Festival in Glor on July 6th, to raise funds for Clare Youth Service. Hosted by Siomha Brock, the evening will start with ‘The Problem’, after which Siomha and her band will take to the stage alongside some very special guests.

There will be an after-show party at The Rowan Tree Cafe where admission is free to all ticket holders.

Doors are at 8.00 p.m. and tickets are priced 15 euro with all proceeds going to Clare Youth Service.

‘The Problem’ directed by Joe Varden and starring Ailbhe McMahon and Aidan O’Gara  was awarded the ‘Outstanding International Production’ award at the 12th Biennial Liverpool International Theatre Festival, Nova Scotia, held May 14-18, 2014. The adjudicator, Annette G. Procunier, was sufficiently impressed by the Ennis Players production to see fit to award the group in spite of stiff competition from China, Egypt, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and USA.

The award was a beautiful papier mache sculpture,  by Libby Broadbent, of a fisherman in a sou’wester and bright yellow dory, with the festival’s signature Jesterfish.

Congratulations to Joe and all involved with the play – they did us proud.
